College Hockey South (CHS) is set to expand its Women’s Division from ten to thirteen teams, welcoming three new programs for the 2025-2026 season.
The University of Florida, Florida State University, and Kennesaw State University will join the rapidly growing league, further strengthening women’s hockey in the South.
Florida State team president Siena Hayman shared her excitement about the milestone: “I am very excited and honored to be starting this program and gathering a great group of girls to help make our first season amazing.”
These additions come after two successful seasons since the women’s division was introduced in 2023-2024. In just two years, the competition has seen two different champions. The Tampa Spartans claimed the inaugural title, but the Alabama Frozen Tide made an immediate impact, winning the 2024-2025 championship in their first season after defeating Tampa in the conference final.
Alabama’s championship run has set a new standard for first-year programs, proving that new teams can quickly rise to the top.
The growth of hockey in the South isn’t limited to just one gender. As Hayman put it: “I love being able to expand and grow the sport of women’s hockey in Florida, serving as a role model for young women and girls wanting to play the sport.”
With three new teams on board, the future of women’s hockey in College Hockey South has never been brighter.
