The College Hockey South All-Star Challenge wrapped up last weekend in Clarksville, TN, with the Men’s and Women’s North All-Star teams dominating the competition. Both squads swept their games and secured victories in the skills competitions.
The Women’s North All-Stars took control early, winning the skills competition 5-1. Ava Johnson (University of Tampa) claimed the only event for Team South, winning the fastest skater. Team North swept the remaining events, highlighted by standout performances from Paige Oukes (accuracy shooting, University of Georgia), Anna Zahorchak (hardest shot, University of Alabama), Haley McAlarney (passing challenge, University of South Carolina), Alyssa Nardslico (breakaway challenge, University of South Carolina), and Stephanie Xhumba (save streak, Auburn University).
Nardslico’s breakaway goal was a fan favorite. Dressed in a Jadeveon Clowney jersey, she received a football-style overhand pass from her teammates before finishing with a smooth forehand move.

The Men’s skills competition was tightly contested, with Team North pulling ahead by winning the final two events. Mitchell Spranklin (University of Tennessee) and Nick Reiniger (University of Alabama) won fastest skater and accuracy shooting, respectively, while the South's David Israel (Florida Atlantic) and Will Marshall (Florida Southern) claimed hardest shot and passing challenge. Ryan Bailey (University of Georgia) impressed with a lacrosse-style move in the breakaway challenge, and Patrick Green (University of Tennessee) secured the win in the save streak.
On the ice, the Women’s North All-Stars dominated, outscoring the South 21-8 across two games. The first game, a 13-5 rout, featured hat tricks from Sammy Lantz, Alyssa Nardslico, and Anna Zahorchak. Johnson notched a hat trick for the South.
Johnson was named MVP of the South Team with six goals and her fastest skater title. Lantz earned MVP honors for the North with six goals and an assist.
The Men’s North All-Stars staged comebacks in both games to clinch the All-Star Challenge belt. Spranklin’s overtime goal sealed a 10-9 win Friday, and his spark helped fuel a four-goal rally in a 12-10 Sunday victory.
Ryan Bailey earned MVP for the North with six goals, two assists, and a breakaway challenge win. Michael Woll (Florida Southern) led the South with a hat trick and two assists, earning their MVP nod.
