University of Florida (D1) vs University of Tennessee (D1)

These two bitter rivals meet for a third time this season at the Savannah Hockey Classic. Tennessee won the previous two meetings.

Tennessee finished the fall semester by sweeping the defending National Champion South Carolina Gamecocks. The Ice Vols hold a 13-2-1 (7-2-0, 14 points) record, which puts them second in the College Hockey South Division 1 standings.

Will Schneider (25) and Mitchell Spranklin (9) each have 22 points to lead the Ice Vol offense.

The Gators ended last semester on a high, winning six of their past seven matchups. Florida holds a record of 8-7-0 (4-6-0, 8 points), which is good for fifth in Division 1.

Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. at Enmarket Arena.

University of Georgia (D1) vs Georgia Institute of Technology (D2)

Clean, old-fashioned hate will take center stage Friday night at the Savannah Hockey Classic as the Ice Dawgs and Yellow Jackets renew their rivalry.

These two rivals have met once before this season, resulting in a 10-3 victory for the Ice Dawgs.

Georgia begins the year at the top of Division 1 after going undefeated in the fall semester (13-0-2; 8-0-2, 18 points). Georgia Tech has gone 4-9-1 (3-2-0-1, 7 points), putting them in 2nd place in the Division 2 North Division.

Ryan Bailey (13) leads the offense for the Ice Dawgs, scoring 13 goals and 11 assists in 15 games. Bailey’s 24 points puts him sixth in Division 1 scoring.

Georgia Tech’s Cullen Dorcas (7) leads the Yellow Jackets with 15 points on the season.

Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m. at Enmarket Arena.

Clemson University (D2) vs Middle Tennessee State University (D2)

Clemson University’s season might have just got underway this past weekend, but their offense is already in midseason form.

Through two games against the University of Alabama-Huntsville, the Tigers put up 24 goals. Ethan Callahan (24) put up four goals, while Sully Kopf (11), Santiago Diaz (88), and Cade Heinold (9) put up three goals apiece.

Now, the Tigers will hit the road to face the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders in a two-game series. The Blue Raiders have the highest point total of all Division 2 teams.

Three Blue Raiders have surpassed forty points this season, with Matthew Siciliano (27) leading the way with 44 points.

Game 1 will occur Friday, Jan. 17, at 8:30 p.m. CST, and Game 2 will occur the following day, Jan. 18, at 7:00 p.m. CST. Both games will be played at the Ford Ice Center Clarksville.

University of South Carolina (W) vs University of Alabama (W)

The number-one-ranked University of Alabama women’s team will host the University of South Carolina in a two-game series this weekend.

These two teams battled back in October, resulting in a split series.

Alabama has an overall record of 9-2-0 (7-2-0, 14 points), while South Carolina is 3-1-0 (6 points) thus far this season.

For the Frozen Tide, Claire Carson (14) and Samantha Lantz (4) are the second and third top point producers in the College Hockey South Women’s Division. Carson has 36 points on the season, while Lantz has 24.

Alyssa Nardslico (19) has seven goals and eight assists in just four games played for South Carolina.

Game one will occur on Friday, Jan. 17, with puck drop set at 4:45 p.m. CT. Game 2 will be the following evening, Saturday, Jan. 18, at 7:45 p.m. CT. Both matchups will be played at Pelham Civic Center.

Florida Southern College (D2) vs Florida Atlantic University (D2)

The Florida Atlantic University Owls will look to extend their ten-game win streak as they take on the Florida Southern College Mocs at home this weekend.

Florida Atlantic has been on their win streak since September 27th.

Despite having a record of 4-8-1 (3-4-1-2, 9 points), the dynamic duo of Will Marshall (19) and Michael Woll (93) have been lighting up the scoreboard for the Mocs. In 13 games, Marshall has racked up 33 points and Woll has tallied 31.

Game 1 is Friday, Jan. 17, at 8:45 p.m. EST, and game 2 is the following day, Jan. 18, at 5:00 p.m. The two games will be hosted at the Panthers Ice Den.
