Week eight of the College Hockey South season begins on Friday, Oct. 25. This weekend, four Florida rivals will compete in the Battle at the Beach tournament in Palm Beach, FL.
Tickets for the Battle at the Beach tournament can be purchased here.
Game of the Week #1: Battle at the Beach: Lynn University (D2) vs. Florida Atlantic University (D2)
The Florida Atlantic University Owls will fight to keep their spot as reigning champions against Lynn University Fighting Knights during the second annual Battle at the Beach tournament.
The battle between the two teams will occur at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday at the Palm Beach Skate Zone in Lake Worth, FL.
The Owls advanced to the championship game at last year’s Battle at the Beach tournament after crushing the Spartans in their first game with a final score of 9-2. Florida Atlantic fought hard against UCF in the finals and concluded the tournament with another win, 5-2.
The Fighting Knights are the newest team to enter the battle, as USF will not be competing this year after placing last in the third-place game against the Spartans, 5-3.
Lynn University will enter the weekend with a 5-1-0 record (4-0-0-1 CHS D2). The Fighting Knights were defeated on Friday and took home a win on Saturday against UCF, both in overtime.
Although Florida Atlantic holds the Battle at the Beach championship title, it has been in a dry spell since Sept. 28, when three of its games were rescheduled. The Owls currently hold a 3-2-1 record (2-1-1-0 CHS D2).

Game of the Week #2: Battle at the Beach: University of Central Florida vs. University of Tampa (D2)
The University of Central Florida Knights will head into the rink against the University of Tampa Spartans, seeking revenge after placing second in last year’s Battle at the Beach tournament.
The Knights and Spartans will scrap at 9:30 p.m. ET on Friday at the Palm Beach Skate Zone in Palm Beach, Florida.
The teams have not played each other since last season, with the Spartans scraping by with a final score of 3-2 in a shootout on Feb.16 in the first round of the CHS D2 Playoffs.
The Knights hold a 4-4-1 record (2-3-1-1 CHS D2), while the Spartans moved to a 3-1-0 record (2-0-0-0 CHS D2) after they split with Florida Atlantic University’s Division 3 team last weekend.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (D3) vs. Rollins College (D3)
The Rollins College Tars Division 3 team will hit the ice for the first time in history against the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Ice Eagles for a two-game weekend series.
The Tars will bring the storm to the Ice Eagles nest at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday at the Daytona Ice Arena Rink and sail back home for their last game at 9:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Orlando Ice Den.
After three weeks off, the Ice Eagles will head into the rink because Hurricane Milton canceled their weekend series against Florida Atlantic on Oct. 11-12.
The Ice Eagles hold a 1-8-0 record after they flew away with their first win of the season, 7-3, against the University of North Florida’s Division 3 team on Oct. 4.
University of Tennessee (W) vs. Auburn University (W)
Another newcomer, the University of Tennessee Lady Vols, will battle in their first game this weekend. The Lady Vols will hit the road to open their first season against the Auburn University Tigers at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, both at the Columbus Ice Rink.
The Tigers will battle in the rink dressed in pink to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness and have set up a GoFundMe where all proceeds will be “donated to the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center,” according to Auburn University women’s hockey GoFundMe.
Auburn has clawed its way to a 2-2 record this season. They won their first two games against Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia. They were defeated in their Iron Cup weekend series against the University of Alabama this past Friday and Saturday.
University of Tennessee (D1) vs. University of Tampa (D1)
The Battle of UT's. The University of Tampa Spartans will play the University of Tennessee Ice Vols in a two-day weekend series in Spartans territory.
The series will be held at the Clearwater Ice Arena at 9:00 p.m. ET on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Although the Spartans are returning to the rink after a three-week break because of the recent hurricanes, they plan to bring the storm this week, especially after the Tampa assault on Miami’s goaltenders, 14-2 on Oct. 4 and 12-2 on Oct. 5.
Tampa holds a 5-1-0 record (2-0-0-0 CHS D1), while Tennessee has moved to a 9-0-1 (4-0-0-0 CHS D1) after taking home the past seven games with a win.
The teams have not played each other yet this season, and with both teams holding down their side of the rink, the upcoming series is highly anticipated.
